Young Advisors

Sefton Young Advisors

What is a YA?

Young Advisors are young people aged between 15 and 21, who show community leaders and decision makers how to engage young people in community life, regeneration and renewal.

Young Advisors are trained and employed Regeneration Consultants who guide local authorities, housing associations and other local partners on what it is like for a young person to live, work, learn and play in their neighbourhood.

Young Advisors planning a project

Young Advisors are, in short, trained young consultants. We are the voice for young people in our area and teach adults how to best engage with young people. We sit on decision making boards to help raise the best options for young people and bring about positive impacts on our Council and other agencies. We are commissoned by organisations across the borough to support them to better engage with, and involve, young people. Young Advisors make sure young people are being given the chance to be involved in decision-making and influencing change.
